The Alaska Court System (ACS) is statutorily required to report traffic convictions to the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) within five working days. Before this exchange, court clerks were required to type minor offense dispositions into the court’s case management system and then retype them into the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). APSIN forwarded them to DMV to update driver’s license records. The ACS’ minor offense disposition reporting interface now automatically sends these updates. This has addressed the problems of duplicate data entry, slow reporting of convictions, and inaccuracies.
